US Lawmaker Proposes Crypto ATMs in Federal Buildings
Texas Congressman Lance Gooden has proposed installing cryptocurrency ATMs in U.S. government buildings. In a May 1 letter to the GSA, he argued the machines could educate citizens about digital assets and signal U.S. leadership in emerging tech—aligning with Donald Trump’s pro-crypto stance.
Gooden clarified he holds no crypto or ATM business interests. However, it's unclear whether the GSA can approve such installations without Congressional authorization or funding. Meanwhile, other lawmakers continue to advocate for stricter regulation of crypto ATMs to prevent fraud, especially targeting vulnerable populations.
