#squarecreator - U.S. lawmaker proposes to install cryptocurrency ATMs in federal buildings.
Representative Lance Gooden asked the General Services Administration to explore the installation of cryptocurrency ATMs, citing Donald Trump's crypto "vision."
A member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas has proposed that government officials consider installing cryptocurrency ATMs in federal buildings across the country.
In a letter dated May 1 addressed to Stephen Ehikian, acting administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA), the entity responsible for managing U.S. government properties, Representative Lance Gooden stated that introducing cryptocurrency ATMs in federal buildings would serve as an “educational resource” and reflect advancements in financial technology. He requested that the GSA begin exploring the guidelines and regulations necessary to install such ATMs on government-controlled properties across the U.S., citing alignment with the goals of President Donald Trump.
According to financial disclosure reports filed with the U.S. House of Representatives, Gooden has not had investments in cryptocurrencies or ATM companies since taking office in 2019. He had not yet filed any financial disclosures with the government for 2025 investments.
The GSA website indicated that it may provide space for ATMs from federal credit unions, but it was unclear whether the acting administrator had the authority to expand regulations to include digital asset ATMs linked to private companies like Bitcoin Depot or CoinFlip. Cointelegraph contacted Gooden's office for comments but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
Gooden, a Republican and Trump supporter, made the proposal.
