Coingecko: More than half of cryptocurrencies have 'died' since 2021. An impressive statistic that confirms the simple truth - it is extremely risky to enter a bear market with a portfolio stuffed with altcoins.

According to #Coingecko, almost 1.4 million tokens died in 2024 alone - a record figure for all time.
More details:
- In 2021, 428,383 tokens were issued, and 2,584 'died.'
- In the bear year of 2022 - there were already 724,796 new ones, and the number of deletions rose to 213,075.
- In 2023, the number created was 835,183, and the 'dead' ones were 245,049.
- The peak occurred in 2024: 3,032,501 tokens were launched, of which 1,832,010 are already dead.
- In 2025 (as of now), out of 1,821,459 tokens - 1,038,711 show no signs of life. This means the pace is already surpassing last year.
That is, the increase in the number of 'dead' projects is related not so much to the bear market as to the development of the meme economy, the emergence of DEX builders, mass tokenization, and activity on networks like #Solana and #Base. Creating a token has become easy, and killing it is even easier 🙄. The market is flooded with speculative garbage without a future. From time to time, there are 'cleansings.'
