U.S. jobless claims rise to highest level since October
The U.S. Department of Labor reported on Thursday that initial jobless claims rose by 18,000 to 241,000 in the week ended April 26, the highest level since early October. The increase in claims came mainly from New York, where claims typically increase in the spring around school holidays.
