Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) expressed concerns about the slow adoption of cryptocurrencies in Europe. Speaking on April 30, 2025, at the Token2049 conference in Dubai, Zhao noted that most European countries are "not moving anywhere" in terms of adopting digital currencies. According to him, the USA is actively exploring policies for creating crypto reserves, while countries like the UAE (specifically Dubai) and Bhutan are making progress by accumulating national reserves of Bitcoin ($BTC ) and Ether ($ETH ).

Zhao emphasized that Europe, with the exception of Montenegro, which actively supports cryptocurrencies, remains outside the global movement. In Montenegro, he stated, the Prime Minister demonstrates a progressive approach to technology. Meanwhile, European countries like the Czech Republic refer to the volatility of Bitcoin, refusing to consider it as a reserve asset.

The former Binance CEO stressed that European governments are not responding to global trends, which could weaken their positions in the Web3 market. While the USA and Asia are actively advancing, Europe risks being left behind in the innovation race.

This speech by Zhao at Token2049 served as an important signal for European regulators about the need to accelerate the integration of cryptocurrencies.
