Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has launched his futuristic crypto project, World (formerly Worldcoin), in six U.S. cities: Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco.

This project uses a shiny, round device called the Orb to scan people’s eyes and faces. In return, users get Worldcoin (WLD) tokens. The goal? To prove you're a real human in a world where AI bots are everywhere.

World is now teaming up with Visa to launch a special World Visa card later this year, which will let users spend their WLD and other crypto easily.

Popular apps like Tinder, Hinge, Reddit, and Discord are also testing a new system called World ID, which confirms people are real—not bots or fake profiles.

Though it’s getting attention, World has also faced criticism and pushback in some countries over privacy concerns. Nations like Spain and Portugal have even paused its activities.

Still, over 26 million people have joined World, and 12 million have scanned their eyes so far.

The WLD token saw a small price boost after the launch news, but it's still far below its highest value from March 2024. $WLD #WLDUSDT
