According to ChainCatcher news, an official document image released by Bitcoin Magazine shows that the city of Roswell, New Mexico, has officially confirmed the receipt of its first Bitcoin donation totaling 3,050,323 satoshis (approximately 0.0305 BTC), valued at about $2,906 at the time. This donation will serve as 'seed funding' to initiate and establish the 'Roswell Strategic (Bitcoin) Reserve' managed by the city government.

According to the document, the fund will:

  • To be held for at least ten years, used to accumulate Bitcoin donations and sponsorships;

  • After reaching the $1 million threshold, it can be used as a 'Bitcoin Emergency Fund', with 21% available every five years, subject to unanimous approval by the city council;

  • Priority will be given to subsidizing the water bills of local senior residents and emergency disaster response.

This donation was officially received on April 29, confirmed by Roswell's acting mayor Juliana Halvorson and Bitcoin certification expert Guy Malone. The donation address has been made public.
