Strategy accelerates its purchase plan and buys another 15,355 bitcoins!
Michael Saylor announced on social media X on Monday that Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) under his leadership spent another $1.42 billion last week to buy 15,355 bitcoins. This is their second consecutive week of large-scale purchases.
After this wave of operations, Strategy now holds a total of 553,555 bitcoins, worth about $52 billion, and its position as the largest corporate holder of cryptocurrency is as stable as Mount Tai!
This time, Strategy bought this batch of bitcoins at an average price of $92,737 per coin, which is much higher than their previous average cost of $68,459 per coin. They make a large-scale purchase at the end of each month, and this time is no exception.
Since Strategy transformed from business intelligence to cryptocurrency development, Strategy has bought Bitcoin three times in the past five weeks. This aggressive buying strategy seems to be successful, and the Bitcoin they hold has achieved a 14% return this year, which is amazing!
Moreover, the number of Bitcoins held by Strategy far exceeds that of other listed companies investing in cryptocurrencies. According to data from Bitcoin Treasuries, they have 505,955 more than the second-ranked Marathon Digital and 522,055 more than the third-ranked Twenty One Capital.
As of Monday, Strategy has spent nearly $38 billion on cryptocurrencies, and now holds cryptocurrencies worth more than $50 billion, with a book profit of up to $14 billion. However, these profits will not be realized until the company sells some of its holdings.
CryptoQuant expert JA Maartunn found that Strategy is accustomed to buying large amounts at the end of the month. They bought 20,365 Bitcoins ($1.99 billion) at the end of February, 22,048 Bitcoins ($1.92 billion) at the end of March, and the same was true for April.
In any of these month-end large purchases, Strategy never bought more than 7,000 BTC, which confirms analysts' observations and views on their buying behavior.
