The world’s first live “sperm race” took place in downtown Los Angeles, where two college students, Tristan Milker and Asher Proeger, competed by racing their sperm under a microscope for a $10,000 prize (Thompson, 2025). Created by tech-savvy teens Eric Zhu, Nick Small, and influencer Shane Fan, the event aimed to raise awareness about male infertility. Hosted at LA Center Studios, the spectacle included leaderboards, commentary, and a halftime show. Despite initial venue setbacks, the race drew a 500-person crowd and spotlighted the urgent fertility crisis facing men today. Organizers hope to normalize sperm health conversations by making them entertaining and accessible. Event sponsor Legacy emphasized the importance of early fertility testing (Thompson, 2025).
