Trump Admin Nears Trade Deal with India
The Trump administration is close to finalizing a new trade agreement with India, with an announcement expected soon. Economist Raghuram Rajan noted India could benefit significantly if tariffs are lowered, making it more appealing to global companies. Meanwhile, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick hinted another trade deal is already complete, awaiting approval from a foreign parliament—though he didn’t name the country. The stock market responded positively to the news.
Bessent added the White House is actively negotiating with 17 countries but confirmed China is not among them. A formal announcement from President Trump is expected soon.
