In April 2025, Arizona approved two bills — SB1025 and SB1373 — concerning investments in bitcoin. The first allows the state treasury and pension funds to invest up to 10% of their funds in digital assets, including BTC. The second creates a special fund for managing cryptocurrencies obtained through seizures or allocated by authorities. The laws provide for strict security measures: storage through custodians and separate accounts in the Federal Reserve System. The signature of Governor Katie Hobbs is still pending, but after resolving key budgetary issues, the likelihood of signing has increased. If passed, Arizona will become the first state in the USA with an official bitcoin reserve in the state system.
