💎U.S. prosecutors are considering dropping the charges against the Samourai Wallet in a new case from the Department of Justice regarding cryptocurrency enforcement☄️

🚀⚡On April 30, PANews reported that CoinDesk indicated that the New York Attorney General is reconsidering whether to drop the charges against Kyon Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, co-founders of the privacy wallet Samourai Wallet. According to court documents filed on Monday, both the prosecution and defense jointly requested a 16-day extension for prosecutors to decide on the next steps based on a new policy memo from Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch. In a memo dated April 7, Blanch announced the dissolution of the Department of Justice's Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET) and directed it to stop prosecuting cryptocurrency exchanges, mixing services, and non-custodial wallets that violated regulations solely due to end-user behavior or unintentional violations. The memo calls for a review of all pending cases to ensure compliance with the new policy.

✈️🦂Rodriguez and Hill were charged in April 2023 with conspiracy to commit money laundering and operating an unlicensed money transfer business, facing up to 25 years in prison. The prosecution claims that the wallet facilitated illegal transactions worth $2 billion between 2015 and 2024, generating profits of $4.5 million. On April 10, the defense attorney first cited Blanch's memo and requested to withdraw the case, with both sides discussing the matter on April 24.
