The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently approved three XRP futures ETFs from ProShares: Ultra XRP (2x leveraged), Short XRP, and UltraShort XRP (-2x leveraged), with trading set to begin on April 30, 2025. Earlier this month, Teucrium launched the first U.S.-based XRP futures ETF, recording over $5 million in trading volume on its first day. These ETFs track XRP prices through futures contracts, not by holding actual XRP tokens. Meanwhile, several major firms—including Bitwise, WisdomTree, and 21Shares—have filed applications for spot XRP ETFs, which would directly hold XRP, with an SEC decision on ProShares’ spot XRP ETF expected by May 22, 2025. Following the futures ETF approvals, XRP's price rose by about 4.7%, reflecting growing institutional interest in the cryptocurrency sector.
