Tether purchased 7.7 tons of gold
The company Tether reported the purchase of more than 7.7 tons of gold to back the XAU₮ token. As of the first quarter of 2025, each unit of XAU₮ is backed by one troy ounce of precious metal stored in certified vaults in Switzerland.
The market capitalization of the asset is over $800 million.
