Hi! I want to tell you about an important news from the world of Ethereum, which can change the very basis of working with accounts on this network.
On April 27, 2025, Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, shared fresh thoughts on the so-called account abstraction. He responded to a comment from one user, Paolo Rebuffo, and said that the project to update the account system is "in the middle." That is, it's not the final yet, but the real results are already visible.
The essence of Buterin's idea is to replace traditional accounts that use standard ECDSA cryptography with more advanced versions. These new accounts will be able to support multi-signatures (that is, sign a single operation with multiple keys), easily change access keys, be protected from the threats of quantum computers, and, most cool of all, receive improved privacy features.
Vitalik noted that the ERC-7701 standard has recently been seriously simplified to make all this cool functionality a reality. He says in plain text: the goal is for such accounts to become "full—fledged citizens" of the Ethereum ecosystem.
In general, this is Buterin's classic approach: not just to theorize about the future, but to actually build it step by step. And apparently, we are waiting for a much more flexible and secure work with accounts in the crypto world.
Do you think such changes can make Ethereum even more popular among ordinary users?
