Former diplomat Sufiur has been appointed as a special assistant to the chief advisor. Sufiur Rahman has been appointed with the status of state minister. He will serve in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sufiur Rahman would not allow anyone to speak against the Awami League government's human rights violations at the Geneva office of the United Nations Human Rights Council from October 2022 to May 2024, but would instead present the reasoning behind all these actions.
