The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, signed constitutional legal amendments granting the digital som, the central bank's digital currency (CBDC) in the country, some legal status.

According to a statement from the presidential office in Kyrgyzstan, this law is part of a broader effort by the government to establish the legal foundation for a pilot project concerning the Kyrgyzstan digital central bank currency and other digital currency applications.
