#TariffsPause

The temporary halt announced only applies to some new tariffs - import taxes - announced by Donald Trump on April 2.

The new minimum tariff of 10%, which takes effect on Saturday, April 5, still applies to goods coming from all countries, including the UK.

There are exceptions for medicines, microchips, and some other items.

However, the 10% tariff itself represents a significant change in America's trade relations with all other countries.

And for China, the tariff will not decrease at all but will be raised further to 125%, plus an additional 20% related to fentanyl drugs.

Nevertheless, this pause means that tariffs above 10% for 59 other regions will be suspended until July.
