Michael Saylor’s firm, Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), has made another massive Bitcoin acquisition, purchasing 22,048 BTC for $1.9 billion between March 24 and March 30, 2025. This latest move, disclosed in an SEC filing, marks the largest BTC acquisition by Strategy in 2025 despite Bitcoin’s recent 25% drop from its all-time high in January.

Strategy’s Growing Bitcoin Holdings

With this latest purchase, Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings now stand at approximately $43.4 billion, accounting for 2.5% of Bitcoin’s total supply of 21 million coins. The firm’s aggressive Bitcoin strategy has been ongoing since late October 2024, with nearly weekly purchases.

Earlier this year, on February 24, the company acquired 20,356 BTC, making this latest transaction its largest BTC acquisition of the year so far. In Q1 2025 alone, Strategy has spent approximately $7.79 billion on Bitcoin.

To finance these purchases, Strategy utilized funds raised through at-the-market sales of common shares and preferred share offerings. The company’s stock has skyrocketed 2,200% since Michael Saylor pivoted its financial strategy toward Bitcoin in 2020, while BTC itself has surged over 600% in the same period.

Bitcoin’s Price Action and Market Recovery Signals

Bitcoin is currently trying to stabilize above $80,000 after recently dipping to $76,000, its lowest price since November 2024. Despite the drop, analysts suggest bullish signs for a potential BTC recovery.

According to CryptoQuant, a key market indicator—Binance’s BTC spot trading volume—has turned positive again. Historically, when Binance’s trading volume outpaced other exchanges, Bitcoin saw strong price rallies.

  • In early 2025, Binance’s dominance preceded BTC’s surge to $109,000.

  • The last similar trend occurred when BTC was at $42,000 before rallying to $73,000.

Although Binance’s volume dominance over Coinbase has decreased from 19x to 8x, it still signals significant market leadership. Analysts believe Binance’s trading strength will be crucial for Bitcoin’s ability to maintain support above $80,000 and stage another rally.

Michael Saylor’s continued BTC acquisitions reinforce the belief that institutional demand for Bitcoin remains strong. With Binance’s market dominance and bullish trading signals, BTC could see renewed price momentum.

However, macroeconomic factors and liquidity conditions will also play a role in Bitcoin’s trajectory in 2025. Whether BTC can break past $100,000 again remains to be seen, but Strategy’s aggressive buying strategy is a key indicator that institutional investors remain bullish on the long-term value of Bitcoin.
