BNB Greenfield is set to introduce a series of improvements as part of an upgrade scheduled for 07:00 AM UTC tomorrow. At the core of the upgrade, code-named "Pampas", is Greenfield's integration with opBNB, promising lower gas fees and significantly faster cross-chain transactions.

Greenfield's version v1.1.0 testnet underwent the Pampas upgrade at a block height of 2,427,233, an event estimated to have occurred on November 20th at 07:00 AM UTC.

Key changes for users that form part of the upgrade include support for rejecting bucket migration, a hardfork for linking to opBNB, an enhanced storage provider query method, and disabling storage provider exit and bucket migration messages. Moreover, account balances on Greenfield are safe, with the objects and buckets stored on the Greenfield testnet remaining accessible post upgrade.

Storage Providers will also witness advancements. The developments include the inclusion of a DataMigrationRecord table to hold process records for migration tasks, the introduction of a health rating for storage providers, a new module including metrics for each RPC interface, and improved quota for bucket migration among others.

The upgrade adds a new level of cross-chain efficiency by integrating opBNB with Greenfield. The benefits of this integration are manifold including significant reduction in cross-chain fees and faster transactions powered by opBNB's one-block finality in most cases. This superior finality speed promotes a better user experience on Greenfield.
