On Tuesday evening (December 3), South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol delivered an emergency address at the Blue House and declared a state of emergency.

Yoon said that in order to uphold freedom and constitutional order, he had no choice but to take such measures, as the opposition party had hijacked parliamentary procedures, plunging the nation into crisis.

He stated: "I declare a state of emergency to protect the free Republic of Korea from the threats of North Korean communist forces and to eradicate the despicable pro-North anti-state forces that plunder the freedom and happiness of our people, thereby safeguarding the constitutional order of freedom."
