The kidnappers demanded that his partner hand over 5,000 euros in cash and the key to a Ledger hardware wallet. The kidnappers used violence to obtain information about the digital assets. The man was released on Tuesday in Créteil, and the police have not reported any arrests. Similar incidents have occurred globally, including in New York, India, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Spain. Jameson Lopp reported 232 attacks on cryptocurrency holders in the past 11 years.
