According to reports by Wu, SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce stated that the SEC is considering an exemption order that would allow companies to issue, trade, and settle securities using distributed ledger technology (DLT).
Entities granted exemptions must comply with market integrity conditions to prevent fraud and manipulation. Other conditions include providing users with disclosures about platform products, services, operations, etc., adhering to record-keeping and reporting requirements, and subjecting themselves to SEC oversight.
