According to Odaily, a California man has been sentenced to 87 months in federal prison for laundering money obtained from selling ecstasy on the dark web using Bitcoin. Authorities reported that the individual imported ecstasy from Germany and sold it on various dark web platforms, accepting Bitcoin as payment. He then converted the Bitcoin into U.S. dollars and laundered the proceeds through hundreds of transactions and multiple financial accounts. The man pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business.
