According to Odaily, Indonesia's cryptocurrency trading volume experienced a significant increase in January 2025, reaching 44.07 trillion Indonesian rupiah (approximately $2.68 billion). This marks a 104.31% rise compared to January 2024, when the trading volume was 21.57 trillion rupiah (around $1.31 billion). This upward trend aligns with the overall trading volume for 2024, which totaled 650.6 trillion rupiah (about $39.56 billion), with December alone accounting for 94 trillion rupiah (approximately $5.72 billion).
Hasan Fawzi from the Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) presented these figures during the monthly committee meeting in February 2025. As of February 2025, the Indonesian market offers 1,396 different crypto assets for trading. The OJK has authorized 19 entities, including a cryptocurrency exchange, a clearing institution, a custodian storage manager, and 16 traders, while 14 additional entities are in the process of obtaining licenses.
