According to PANews, U.S. President Donald Trump is set to enhance control over independent federal agencies, marking a significant move to strengthen his administration's influence over government bodies.
In a statement from the White House, it was announced that Trump signed an executive order late Tuesday aimed at 'constraining independent agencies.' This order mandates these agencies to submit draft regulations for review and establishes 'performance standards' that require agencies to consult with the White House on 'priorities and strategic plans.'
The executive order targets agencies such as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). While the Federal Reserve's monetary policy functions remain unaffected, its regulatory functions are subject to the new order.
