According to Odaily, the audit of U.S. gold reserves has sparked a debate, with the cryptocurrency community advocating for the value of Bitcoin reserves. U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis, who also chairs the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets, has called for the use of Bitcoin to upgrade U.S. reserves. She stated that Bitcoin reserves can be audited at any time using a basic computer.
In response, economist Peter Schiff argued that Bitcoin does not solve any issues. He stated, "When you audit gold, you are auditing something tangible; when you audit Bitcoin, you are essentially auditing nothing."
