According to Odaily, two informed sources have revealed that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, is attempting to gain access to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) system. This system contains detailed financial information on every taxpayer, business, and nonprofit organization in the United States, raising significant concerns within the IRS. Under pressure from the White House, the IRS is considering signing a memorandum of understanding that would grant DOGE officials extensive access to the tax agency's systems, properties, and datasets. This includes the Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS), which allows IRS employees to access accounts, including personal identification numbers and bank information. It remains unclear whether acting IRS Commissioner O'Donnell or other IRS or Treasury Department officials have approved DOGE's access to the IDRS system.
