According to Odaily, Texas resident Frank Richard Ahlgren III has been sentenced to two years in prison for tax-related crimes involving the sale of $4 million in Bitcoin. The sentencing took place in December 2024. In addition to the prison term, Ahlgren is required to pay $1,095,031 in restitution to the United States. This case marks the first instance of tax fraud involving solely cryptocurrency.
