Industry leaders collaborated to mitigate the effects of the exploit, showcasing resilience across both centralized and decentralized finance sectors. Immediate actions included key infrastructure providers like Orbiter, deBridge, SynFutures, MYX, Thruster, and Owlto quickly blacklisted addresses tied to the attack.
Chainalysis gave important help by tracking and sharing the attacker's wallet addresses. Several blockchain security firms enhanced the defense efforts. The SIS cross-chain bridge blocked related addresses to stop asset laundering, while Zero Shadows started its Global Response team to help with tracing bad actors and communication with law enforcement.
Institutional traders are supporting Bybit.
Market stability got important backing from institutional traders, with TMSI, Bayside Trading, Mathrix, Wintermute, Cumberland, and GSR Markets keeping their trading positions.
More support came from large industry players like Antalpha Global, Bitget, Pionex, MEXC, Galaxy Digital, FalconX, and leading DeFi protocols Lido Finance and Solana Foundation.
“Even though this has been a tough time for Bybit, our partners have shown strong support,” Zhou said.
“Their trust and quick response show the growth and strength of this industry.”
Bybit also announced a recovery bounty program that offers up to 10% of recovered funds after the cryptocurrency theft.
“In the first 24 hours after the event, we received incredible support from some of the best people and organizations in the industry, and we truly appreciate it.
We’ve shared a difficult moment in crypto history, and we’ve shown that we are better than the bad actors,” Zhou said.
The attackers changed the signing interface to show the right wallet address while changing the smart contract logic underneath.
Lazarus Group is also connected to last year’s DMM Bitcoin Exchange Hack.In May, Japan's DMM Bitcoin was hacked, resulting in the loss of around $305 million.
In July, India’s WazirX exchange was also hacked, losing about $235 million.This hack was also linked to Lazarus.
