What was said at the White House Crypto Summit?
President Trump’s Speech
He emphasized that the United States should become the global Bitcoin superpower and announced the signing of an executive order to formally establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve (“Digital Gold Virtual Fort Knox”) to centralize the custody of Bitcoin assets acquired through legal means.
Trump criticized past governments for selling Bitcoin, stating, “From today onward, never sell your Bitcoin,” and vowed to end the Biden administration's crackdown on the crypto industry.
Government Leadership and Regulatory Updates
Officials such as the Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of Commerce expressed their intention to work closely with regulatory agencies (such as the OCC and IRS) to update and revise existing guidelines, explore new ways to accumulate more Bitcoin, while ensuring that taxpayers do not bear additional costs.
The meeting also discussed legislation concerning stablecoins, with Trump hoping Congress will send the stablecoin bill supported by the dollar for signature before the August recess to ensure the dollar's dominant position in the global financial system.
Industry Leaders and Market Expectations
Several leaders from the crypto industry and corporate executives (such as representatives from Coinbase, Kraken, etc.) attended the meeting, praising Trump’s leadership and policy direction, believing this will bring a more relaxed and clear regulatory environment for the industry.
Overall, although the summit did not release new policy documents, the meeting conveyed signals that the U.S. government will actively support the development of the cryptocurrency industry, reshape the regulatory environment, and strengthen the dollar's dominance through measures such as stablecoins and Bitcoin reserves.
