What is IOST (IOST)?
IOST operates as a multichain infrastructure designed for Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization and Web3 payment applications. The platform connects traditional financial systems with decentralized networks across multiple chains. It functions as a Layer 2 solution on the BNB Chain, utilizing Optimistic Rollups to deliver high transaction throughput and reduced costs.
The IOST RWA module allows physical assets to be tokenized into on-chain representations, incorporating compliance and lifecycle management features. One of its core technologies is a bond-splitting mechanism that divides tokenized assets into principal (P-Bond) and yield (Y-Bond) components. These components can be traded independently or combined, offering flexible investment options and enhancing liquidity. The ecosystem also includes PayPIN, a hardware-based ring with biometric authentication that enables users to interact with the network through simple physical gestures, supporting secure decentralized identity and seamless payments.
Since its launch in 2018, IOST has evolved from a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain using its own Proof-of-Believability (PoB) consensus to a BNB Chain Layer 2 optimized for RWA tokenization and PayFi use cases. The network has maintained stable performance, consistently achieving over 10,000 transactions per second and processing more than one billion transactions without experiencing downtime. The move to IOST 3.0 represents a strategic transition focused on expanding Web3 payment capabilities and integrating real-world assets into blockchain systems.
IOST’s RWA tokenization technology is built on a multi-layered framework that transforms real-world assets into standardized digital tokens with embedded compliance. The bond-splitting function supports capital-efficient trading strategies by enabling the separation of assets into tradable components. Additionally, IOST integrates PayFi through biometric-enabled devices for decentralized identity and secure transaction authentication.
Revenue on the IOST network is generated through gas fees for transactions, tokenization fees from asset issuers, trading fees from the bond-splitting module, and staking-based governance participation.
IOST is listed on Binance for trade and purchase. The current price of IOST is available and updated in real-time on Binance.
