To list it on the stock exchange, he needed at least 400 million in paid-up capital, but his company was only worth 20 million.
Through corruption — paying off a merchant bank officer, auditors, SEC officials, and stock exchange staff — the company’s value was falsely shown as 400 million. An IPO was launched, and by selling 50% of the shares, the owner raised 300 million from the public. After paying bribes, he pocketed 200 million.
Later, he manipulated earnings reports, sold off the rest of his shares for huge profits, and siphoned money from the company through inflated salaries, family positions, fake expenses, and luxury purchases. Eventually, the company showed losses and was delisted.
In the end, the public lost everything, while the owner and corrupt officials became rich.
