After eight years of trials, I summarized three lessons:
Leverage is a knife, not wings: I once relied on 20x leverage to trade Ethereum, making 400,000 in one day, only to be liquidated for 600,000 in just two hours during the '519' crash in 2021. The rule now is to keep leverage below 3x and position size in a single asset below 5%.
Don't look for heirlooms in the casino: Heavily invested in 'domestic Ethereum,' I entered at 250,000 and it rose to 1.5 million but I didn't sell, and eventually, the price dropped to less than 0.001 dollars. Now, 85% of my funds are in Bitcoin and Ethereum, with 15% in altcoins as pocket money.
3. Stop-loss is the last dignity: Set a hard stop-loss of 8% for each trade; exit when hit. Before trying to double your money, ask yourself: Can you still calmly enjoy hot pot if your account hits zero?
