From Bhutan partnerships to Bitcoin reserves, Binance doubles down on government collaboration for global crypto clarity

In the latest CEO Connect: May Edition, Binance CEO Richard Teng welcomed the growing regulatory scrutiny, describing it as a positive force accelerating trust and institutional investment in crypto.

“Regulatory pressure is not a threat—it’s a sign of maturity. The industry is in a far better place today than it was in 2017 or 2015,” Teng stated.

Collaborating With Governments for Crypto Clarity

Teng highlighted Binance’s global efforts to work directly with governments, citing ongoing partnerships aimed at fostering responsible blockchain innovation. A notable example is Binance’s collaboration with the Kingdom of Bhutan, where citizens can now use crypto to pay for flights, meals, and tourism services, thanks to a government-led digital initiative.

“We’re also supporting governments in setting up Bitcoin reserves and designing long-term digital asset strategies,” he revealed.

These strategic alliances are part of Binance’s broader effort to bring transparency, stability, and infrastructure to both retail and institutional participants.

Institutional Adoption Driven by Regulation

According to Teng, clearer regulation is key to unlocking institutional investment in crypto.

“We’ve come a long way. Today’s regulatory environment is significantly better, with more governments seeking to provide clarity instead of restriction,” he said.

Teng noted a rising trend of global policymakers aligning on digital asset frameworks—especially as U.S. political figures, including Donald Trump, advocate for clearer crypto regulations.

“When the U.S. leads, the rest of the world pays attention. If other countries don’t keep up, they risk falling behind,” Teng warned.

A New Era for Institutional and Retail Crypto Growth

With increased dialogue between exchanges and policymakers, Binance believes the ecosystem is entering a new era—one where regulation fosters growth rather than hinders it.

“Better regulation, better clarity—that’s how we scale crypto for both institutional and retail adoption,” Teng concluded.
