According to BlockBeats, an American tourist lost over $123,000 in cryptocurrency during a suspected premeditated theft in London's West End. Jacob Irwin-Cline, from Portland, Oregon, was on a two-day layover and had just left The Roxy nightclub in Soho around 1:30 a.m. on May 9 when the incident occurred.

Police reported that a driver, who learned Irwin-Cline's name from the app, intercepted him at the scene. Irwin-Cline later requested to view the nightclub's CCTV footage, which showed him getting into a dark-colored sedan instead of the Toyota Prius displayed on his Uber app. The driver allegedly offered him a cigarette, suspected to be laced with a sedative.

Under the influence of the substance, Irwin-Cline inadvertently disclosed his phone's unlock code, allowing the perpetrator access to his cryptocurrency accounts. He was subsequently abandoned in an unfamiliar area of London. Authorities confirmed that the attacker forcibly logged into his Revolut account, gaining direct access to his crypto wallet.
