A solo miner using just 6 TH/s of computing power defied 1‑in‑180‑million odds to mine a full Bitcoin block via CKpool, earning 3.146 BTC plus fees about US$270,000. CKpool creator Con Kolivas confirmed the rare win, achieved with an older ASIC and CKpool’s solo‑mining setup that lets hobbyists keep full rewards minus a 2% fee.
While the economics of solo mining remain speculative due to hardware and electricity costs, this marks CKpool’s 308th block since 2014. Such successes are increasingly rare as Bitcoin’s hash rate climbs, but remain mathematically possible, keeping some miners hashing away.
