According to Yonhap, South Korea's first lunar orbiter, Danuri, is set to examine a piece of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that is expected to hit the moon this week, according to the Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA). The rocket fragment is expected to strike the northwestern area near Einstein Crater at around 3:34 p.m. Wednesday. It is part of the Falcon 9's upper section that carried two lunar landers from U.S. and Japanese companies to the moon in January 2025. Danuri is expected to film the impact with its Lunar Terrain Imager (LUTI) high-resolution camera, and KASA said the observation should provide useful data on the moon's surface and impact mechanism.
