According to Yonhap, South Korea's government has recovered 72.9% of the public funds it used to support troubled financial firms since the 1997-1998 Asian financial crisis, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) said Tuesday. As of end-June, 123 trillion won ($83.3 billion) of the 168.7 trillion won in bailout funds had been repaid, up 0.3 percentage point from three months earlier. The FSC said 590 billion won was recovered in the second quarter alone.
