Tanzania Advances Digital Asset Regulations. 🇹🇿
The Bank of Tanzania is finalising a comprehensive regulatory framework for virtual assets, including cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. The initiative aims to create a safer, more transparent digital asset ecosystem by strengthening investor protection, improving market oversight, and supporting responsible innovation as crypto adoption continues to grow across the country.
The proposed framework is expected to establish clear guidelines for digital asset service providers while addressing risks such as money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and other illicit financial activities. It also seeks to enhance consumer confidence, preserve financial stability, and encourage sustainable growth within Tanzania's rapidly expanding fintech and digital asset sector.
Governor Emmanuel Tutuba emphasized that increasing public awareness and financial literacy will play a key role in ensuring Tanzanians can safely participate in the evolving digital economy while benefiting from innovation and emerging financial technologies.
