The thing that surprised me was not the AI.

It was the waiting.

A model can exist.
The infrastructure can exist.
The token can exist.

And still nothing useful happens.

That sounds obvious, but I think many people underestimate the gap between a working demo and a working network.

When I look at @OpenGradient , I spend less time thinking about model quality and more time thinking about activation.

How many uploaded models are actually used?

How many inference requests happen after incentives disappear?

How many developers return after their first successful interaction?

Those numbers tell a different story.

A network does not become valuable because it stores intelligence.

It becomes valuable when intelligence becomes accessible, repeatable, and worth paying for.

That is why I keep watching usage more than announcements.

Announcements create attention.

Usage creates demand.

And in the long run, demand is usually what survives.
