Israel confirmed a ceasefire with Iran on Tuesday, stating it had achieved its war aims.

The announcement came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump declared the agreement had gone into effect.

Trump posted on Truth Social early Tuesday: "THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!"

This statement came approximately six to seven hours after his initial announcement of the truce.

The cease-fire followed an Iranian missile attack early Tuesday that resulted in four fatalities.

Trump had outlined the agreement on social media Monday evening, describing a process that would occur in stages, beginning with Iran halting hostilities Tuesday morning local time.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier stated on X that Iran would stop its attacks as long as Israel did the same.

The agreement potentially marks an end to the renewed hostilities between the two Middle Eastern powers.
