Boundless, the zero-knowledge (ZK) compute marketplace incubated by RISC Zero, has officially launched its mainnet on Base, marking a major milestone in bringing verifiable compute to every blockchain ecosystem.

This launch builds on the project’s incentivized testnet, which went live in July and successfully stress-tested Boundless’ distributed ZK architecture under real-world conditions.

From Testnet to Mainnet: Verifiable Compute at Scale

During its Beta phase, Boundless operated as a decentralized ZK compute marketplace, connecting developers who needed zero-knowledge proofs — for use cases like rollups, bridges, and privacy protocols — with independent provers (known as ZK miners) who generated those proofs.

The launch introduced an innovative consensus and reward model called Proof of Verifiable Work, which compensates provers based on the volume, speed, and complexity of their computations.

Community participation during the Beta was strong, boosted by expectations of $ZKC token rewards and the network’s growing developer ecosystem.

Now, with the mainnet launch, Boundless’ compute network is fully operational — enabling scalable, privacy-preserving computation across multiple chains.

“For the first time, developers on any chain can access abundant zero-knowledge compute to build complex applications that scale across ecosystems without sacrificing decentralization,”

— Shiv Shankar, CEO of Boundless

Expanding the ZK Ecosystem: Integrations Already Underway

Several leading blockchain protocols are already integrating Boundless to enhance scalability, verification, and interoperability:

Wormhole is using Boundless to introduce ZK verification for Ethereum consensus, boosting the security of cross-chain transfers.

BOB, a hybrid Bitcoin rollup, is leveraging Boundless to allow EVM applications to interoperate with Bitcoin using proofs that inherit Bitcoin’s security while drawing on Ethereum’s liquidity.

Lido, the leading liquid staking protocol, is deploying Boundless to secure validator exits with transparent proofs, improving auditability and trust for staked assets.

Why It Matters: A Universal Layer for Verifiable Compute

Boundless represents a critical step toward universal, decentralized zero-knowledge compute — a layer that allows any blockchain to access scalable proof generation without relying on centralized infrastructure.

By providing a permissionless network of provers and a transparent reward model, Boundless aims to make verifiable computation as accessible as blockspace itself — supporting a new generation of privacy-preserving, multi-chain applications.
