Project Goal: BounceBit's primary purpose is to enhance the utility of Bitcoin (BTC) by allowing holders to stake and restake their assets to earn yield, essentially transforming a historically passive store of value into an actively productive asset within the decentralized finance (DeFi) world. Dual-Token Proof-of-Stake (PoS) Consensus: The BounceBit network is a Layer 1 blockchain secured by a unique dual-token PoS mechanism. Validators are required to stake both Bitcoin (in a wrapped or staked form like BBTC) and the native BB token to secure the network and verify transactions. This leverages Bitcoin's security and stability while providing utility for the BB token. CeDeFi Infrastructure: BounceBit operates on a CeDeFi (Centralized-Decentralized Finance) model. User's deposited Bitcoin is held by regulated custodians (CeFi), and then mirrored on-chain as a Liquid Custody Token (LCT) which can be used for staking and DeFi activities (DeFi). This aims to combine institutional-grade security and compliance with the flexibility of decentralized applications. The BB token has several critical functions within the BounceBit ecosystem: 1. Staking: It is staked alongside BTC (or BBTC) to secure the network and participate in the Dual-Token PoS consensus mechanism. Stakers earn BB rewards. 2. Gas Fees: BB is the currency used to pay for transaction fees and smart contract execution on the BounceBit network. 3.
