#Polygon Key Recent Updates 1. Token migration: MATIC → POL On September 4, 2024, Polygon migrated its native token from MATIC to POL on a 1:1 basis. The migration means POL is now used for gas fees, staking, etc. Recently, Coinbase completed delisting MATIC and fully transitioned remaining MATIC holdings into POL. 2. Heimdall v2 / Finality upgrade Polygon deployed an upgrade (Heimdall v2) which reduces transaction finality time to about ~5 seconds (versus longer times before). This addresses latency and performance, improving user experience. 3. AggLayer / Cross-chain & interoperability Polygon has been pushing its “Aggregation Layer” (AggLayer) concept to unite liquidity and improve cross-chain interaction.
