Binance announced on Tuesday at Binance Blockchain Week that co-founder Yi He will become co-CEO alongside current CEO Richard Teng.
Yi He, born in 1988, co-founded Binance with Changpeng Zhao (CZ) and has long been regarded as the strategic and innovative force behind the exchange’s growth into the world’s largest crypto platform. Previously head of marketing and a low-profile executive focused on branding, strategy, and expansion, she has stayed out of the public eye while shaping the company’s vision, culture, and user-centric approach.
CEO Richard Teng praised Yi’s “innovative and user-focused approach” as instrumental to Binance’s bottom-up strategy, saying her co-leadership will complement his own regulatory experience as the company emerges from recent U.S. enforcement actions and CZ’s departure. The duo aims to reach one billion users, strengthen compliance, and build Web3 infrastructure while prioritizing trust and financial freedom.
Yi He stated she is “honored to build alongside Richard” and confident the pair’s diverse perspectives will responsibly guide the industry forward with users at the center.
