Tron Surpasses Ethereum with Fivefold Increase in Global USDT Transactions

Tron has become the predominant player in the global USDT transactions, recently surpassing Ethereum's daily stablecoin volume by over five times. According to CryptoQuant analyst Carmelo Alemán, users transferred more than $6.94 million in USDT through Tron compared to just $1.31 million on Ethereum on June 29, signifying a growing shift towards Tron's low-cost infrastructure, particularly in emerging markets.

Tron's TRC-20 USDT serves as an alternative banking system in countries like Venezuela, Turkey, Nigeria, and Argentina. Major crypto exchanges now default to TRC-20 for USDT transactions, accelerating a structural shift in supply that began around October 2021. By June 2025, USDT on Tron had exceeded $80 billion, partly propelled by Tether's strategic moves, including the recent minting of $2 billion worth of stablecoin exclusively on the network.
