During the upgrade, trading on the Coinbase Simple and Advanced Trade platforms, as well as deposits and withdrawals, transfers out of Coinbase and use of Coinbase Card might be unavailable. Also, transfers into Coinbase may be delayed. However, users will still be able to access their accounts during the upgrade. Coinbase also stated that the times mentioned for the upgrade are estimated and subject to change.
Coinbase adds two new cryptos
Alongside the upgrade news, Coinbase has listed two new cryptocurrencies, a move that continues its trend of supporting emerging digital assets.
Newton (NEWT), a token based on the Ethereum network (ERC-20 Token), is now listed on Coinbase and available in the Coinbase iOS and Android apps with the Experimental label. Sonic (S), based on the Sonic network, is also listed on Coinbase and live in the Coinbase iOS and Android apps. The recent move allows users to buy, sell, convert, send, receive or store these assets.

In other news, Coinbase notified users that Horizen would be transitioning from a layer-1 Horizen blockchain to an ERC-20 token on Base. This upgrade is expected to occur on July 23, 2025. Ahead of the migration, sending, receiving and trading for ZEN will be temporarily disabled between July 16 and July 25.
Users are urged to refrain from depositing, transferring or trading ZEN during the migration window, as any deposits during this period (July 16 to July 25) will be non-recoverable. Coinbase says it will issue a notice once services have resumed.
