Martti “Sirius” Malmi, one of the earliest collaborators of Satoshi Nakamoto, has proposed the creation of a “Bitcoin Mossad” — a dedicated organization tasked with protecting Bitcoin holders in an era of mass adoption.

🕵️‍♂️ Why Would Bitcoin Need a Secret Security Force?

Malmi, a legendary figure from Bitcoin’s early days, warns of a looming threat in the case of hyperbitcoinization — a theoretical scenario where Bitcoin becomes a global standard for money.

In such a future, long-term BTC holders could become top targets for criminals:

“Hyperbitcoinization will make long-time hodlers the juiciest targets in the world,” noted Jesse Posner, co-founder of the Vory project.

Malmi envisions an organization that would:

🔹 Monitor and prevent threats,

🔹 Protect individual wealth,

🔹 And provide physical security for Bitcoin holders.

🌍 El Salvador as the Headquarters?

Malmi suggested that this “Bitcoin Mossad” could be based in El Salvador — the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. Both symbolically and practically, this would make sense. The country is known for its Bitcoin-friendly stance, and the project could potentially receive government support.

⚠️ Experts Warn Against False Security

However, not everyone is sold on the idea. Alex Stanczyk from Swan Bitcoin cautioned that overpromising security solutions could be risky.

“Security firms should be very careful with their messaging — otherwise, they could expose clients to a false sense of safety,” Stanczyk said.

💡 New Era, New Threats?

Where crypto security once meant defending against hackers and phishing, today’s billion-dollar BTC portfolios face entirely new dangers, including:

🔹 Physical abduction,

🔹 Coercion,

🔹 Forced transfers under threat.

Creating a specialized security force might not only be a logical next step, but could also set a precedent for a more secure digital economy in the future.
