🇺🇸SUPREME COURT LETS COPPER MINE GOBBLE SACRED NATIVE LAND The Supreme Court has shrugged off pleas to save Oak Flat in Arizona from a copper mine that will leave a crater nearly two miles wide. Oak Flat lies about 70 miles east of Phoenix and is sacred to the Apache, who use it for spiritual ceremonies. Justice Neil Gorsuch called this a grave mistake, suggesting the court would have cared more if it were a cathedral instead of tribal land. Oak Flat is seen as a path to the Creator and home to spiritual beings called the Ga’an. Resolution Copper, backed by mining titans Rio Tinto and BHP, claims the mine could fill a quarter of America’s copper appetite, driven by electric cars and clean energy dreams. The land was taken from the Apache in the 1800s, with promises to protect them that were quickly forgotten. Lower courts ruled the government can do as it pleases with its own land.
